Leon Jackson has just wiped the floor with all comers and hit the charts at Number One!

Jackson sold 276,000 copies of When You Believe, which is the highest total for any 2007 track (almost five times as many sales as the 'number two' duet by Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy.

Jackson told BBC Radio 1, "It's been a great ending to a fantastic year and it's just the best Christmas present I could ever wish for."

What more can I say - Job done!

What A Nightmare!

So all in all, it's been a hell of a ride!

Judges meet auditionees,
auditionees are sliced and diced...
Surviving auditionees sing their little hearts out,
judges cut them down to twelve...
Twelve auditionees battle it out,
judges break their hearts and crush their dreams...
Final three reach the final,
winner is chosen...

AND THEN WHAT?

What happens now people?

Ofcom are investigating complaints about Rhydian's phone lines and the phone voting system, the X Factor wrap party went ahead and Rhydian didn't go and to top it off, The Sun claims that Rhydian's dad believes "it's all a fix! Most of Wales couldn't get through." ITV insist that there was no problem with the lines whatsoever.

From previous reports Rhydian is not a sore loser and has said he does not want to be associated with any of these reports.

From here in, it just gets worse...

Leon has been through the mill thanks to these voting issues.
I can only imagine how he feels and his nerves must be shot! Every performance he's made this weekend has been critiqued by the national papers and online.

THEN he's had a real nightmare, as his single was MISSING from the midweek sales charts and representatives blamed 'data reporting issues' (whatever that means). The midweek chart figures state that Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy's duet will be the Christmas number one, but this is an error and when all of the figures come through from across the country and online (at the end of the week), Leon will be miles ahead.

It's all very strange isn't it?
What on earth is going on?
Can you smell something fishy?
I smell something that's for sure!

Oh well...
We shall have to wait and see.
Only time will tell...

The Live Final!

Here we go...
Are you ready?

It's Scotland V England V Wales tonight and each act managed to return home to rally support from friends and family.

Same Difference returned to Portsmouth and performed in their old junior school and town centre. They're up first and perform All I Want For Christmas Is You. Oh my God they're wired up!! Same Difference fly into the air and illuminate a Christmas tree, how fab! It just gets cheesier as they sway with all of the dancers and then a ton of kids run on stage and dance around. You have to love 'em guys, I can't fault the vocal and they put on a great show! Cheddar rules!

Even Louis (the SD hater) said it was a great start to the show. "You have big smiles and I didnt think you were gonna make the final, but people out there love you!" Both Dannii and Sharon agree that it's the best show opening ever and Simon, well Simon just loved them! "I love this song, I never had presents as a child at christmas time you see. You are coming into this final as the underdogs. It's England versus Scotland and Wales tonight and maybe England is gonna cause an upset tonight. Talk about rallying the troops eh Simon?

Leon returned home to Scotland and (bless him) he couldn't get in the door to perform at his local shopping centre. There were 11,000 people!

He performs White Christmas and it's a great choice for his range, but sadly the song itself is bland. It's a little slow for the final, though Leon did spice it up towards the end with some SUPER POWER BELTING! Louis insists that he should make a career from this, Sharon says he should have a hit single and Simon thought it was smooth. It would have been nice for Simon to stop there, but it wasn't to be. "The start was nervous and the last twenty seconds were the best. If I had to be honest I would say 1-0 to Same Difference".

Bless Rhydian, he deserves to win this for his voice alone. The VT runs as he returns to his Welsh homeland and you can really understand where he's coming from. His whole village had come out to meet him and then he was totally overwhelmed by the reception in Cardiff. He's so humble. He sings Oh Holy Night and I love it! He has SO much passion and you can see how much he wants it. His vocals were flawless as always and as pure as snow (sorry!) Louis thinks Rhydian can be an international star, Sharon says that he is divine and Simon admits the prize should go to Rhydian if it was for consistent performances. It's hilarious when Dannii tells "if you're free on Christmas day, you can come to the Minogue house and sing that". Rhydian turns to his parents in the audience... "Sorry mum, I'm going there!"

I have to say, I don't think Rhydian's hair can get any whiter! The duets are up next...
Can't wait!

Sorry can't type, I'm singing along with Same Difference! LOVE IT!
They belt out Any Dream Will Do with Jason Donovan and hold on... Here come the swaying, singing children with the candles. What did I tell ya?

Sean loved singing with Jason and told him tha this was the first single he ever bought. When asked what he thinks of Same Difference, Jason says, "they have so much heart. Music is about fun and that is what this show is about, making fun music. We get paid to enjoy what we're doing!" Well said Jace!

Who's next? I'm loving this duet lark!

Oooh Rhydian... WOW and once more WOW!
His duet with Katherine Jenkins was nothing short of sensational! Their voices matched perfectly and it was just a beautiful sound. Rhydian admits that it's a dream come true to sing with Katherine, but Katherine has plenty to say herself... "Isn't he amazing. I'm sure he has a career in this business, I've loved singing with him. It's been a pleasure". Rhydian is chuffed to bits and who can blame him!

Time for the ads.. I'm off to dip my fingers in cold water.
They're on fire! 2 secs...

Poor Leon... He sings Better The Devil You Know, but is totally upstaged by the wonder that is Kylie! Even the cameraman can't take his eyes off her and it's just like I predicted in my previous post, he's very nervous. To be honest, I think Kylie wearing nothing but a body stocking didn't help either. Thankfully (as always), Leon pulled it back toward the end and I was impressed with the swing version of the song (I thought I'd hate it!)

HOW HILAROIUS WERE THE AUDITIONEES?
As is the case every year, producers gathered up the classic auditionees from every region and they stepped out in force. Singing One Moment In Time it was pure genius and car crash TV combined. Remember the girl who's dad made her skirt for her, the 'No Way' girl and the tiny Japanese lady that Simon wanted to take home with him (she couldn't sing, but was just that cute) - They were all there and it was a side-splitting performance. I held my breath at one point when the young girl (with the skirt) was carried onstage via a huge thrown and four hunky guys. The throne slipped and I thought they were going to drop her. Did you see it? I screamed and Sharon Osbourne had her head in her hands - It was frightening!

Time for the final performances.
It's their favourite songs from the series...

Same Difference perform Breaking Free and although it's a little delicate for me, it works. They're so emotional by the end of it and seem relieved that it's their final song. It's no surprise though, all of the acts have been through the mill this series. Simon sums it all up, "we didn't win the football this year and I'm not Italian, but I think for you to win this for England would be fantastic. I know you two would be so happy to win this". Sharon agreed and begged her mum to let the kids vote for Same Difference.

This was my favourite song from Leon (when he sang it previously). He performs You Don't Know Me and I love it, his tone is perfect for this song. He's so smooth! All of the judges agree that it was his best performance and Simon says it was "sensational. That was when you turned it around for me, when you sang that song." Me too Simon... me too!

Well b***er me, what can I say! Rhydian just floored me with Somewhere. It was just awesome. Go on Rhdian! Louis says "you are world class, you have it all and you deserves to win this. Andrew Lloyd Webber is gonna call you on Monday, but don't take his call". Simon says that it was simply "Brilliant! I have to agree with Louis. If the prize goes to the act with the best singing voice, you should win it".

What can I say?
There are your finalists guys and what a show it's been. I think it will be such a close call between Same Difference and Rhydian (for totally different reasons obviously!) and Leon will be third. I would love to see Rhydian win, but I know he'll fly regardless. The question is, if Rhydian is going to be a star anyway should Same Difference win the grand prize or should it be credit where credit's due to the Riddler? Will SD be massive if they DON'T win the show?

Then again, that's just my opinion - What's yours?

NEWS FROM XTRA-FACTOR
- Sharon thinks the performance of the night goes to Rhydian with Somewhere.
- Louis says that Rhydian or Leon should win and Simon thinks it's no surprise. He tells the public, "if you hate Louis vote for Same Difference!"

- Futureproof have a house together now and are working on their music.

- Hope, Alisha, Kimberley and the gang are enjoying gigging.

- Andy is working on his music and also has a calendar available ladies!

- Rhydian takes a moment to thank all the people in the 'UK' (as well as Wales) for voting for him.

- Same Difference were worried about opening the show and terrified of flying. Sarah said, "Now I love it, I want to be supergirl". Can these two get any cuter?
- A whole ton of celebrities send their best wishes to the finalists, but Rhydian is gobsmacked when Andrew Lloyd Webber appears. He wishes him well and says he'd make a cracking phantom!

THE RESULTS:

OMG, Rhydian and Leon are through to the final two!
What a shocker Same Difference are out!

I'm gutted SD have gone first though... Both Sean and Sarah say they've had the best time. Simon thinks they are genuinely nice people and it's not the end for them (yeah, I can hear the tills ringing already Simon). Enjoy yourselves guys and rake in the readies. We love ya!

Now the final two must perform When You Believe and the lines are reopened...

So let's get down to brass tacks shall we? Either of the boys could take this. Dermot has just revealed that there's only 1% in it and that's no surprise when you think about it. These boys have two totally different styles, musical backgrounds and voices. Their demographics are on opposite ends of the spectrum too. I loved Leon from the start, but I think I have to go with Rhydian. His performances have been both consistent and amazing.

The main reason I'm opting for Rhydian is because of the winners song. I thought it suited Rhydian's voice perfectly and with the current trend in uplifting ballads, I think he might just edge it. Leon's performance was fantastic, but as before he was nervous at the start and gained confidence toward the end. The winner needs to act like a seasoned performer, they'll be performing all over the country from next week. Rhydian's final performance was just in a different class. I just hope he still gets the votes after Andrew Lloyd Webber said he'd make a great phantom. What more can I say, time to wait for the result... Lines are now closed.

Hang on... I think Leon is gonna win this you know. Don't ask me why, but I'm very suspicious all of a sudden. The judges have just spoke to Rhydian after his performance and Simon said "if that's the last time you sing that song, what a way to go". Then Dannii said, "it's been a pleasure working with you". You would think they know who's won before we do? It's like they're saying goodbye to Rhydian. What's up with that?

Here we go!
The winner of X Factor 2007 is... LEON!

Leon is speechless and can only say "thank you". Rhydian is gutted (so am I) and says thank you to all who voted for him. "I have had a fantastic time and some things are just meant to be. Leon is a fantastic singer and a real character". Kudos to you for being so humble Rhydian.

Leon sings the winners song once more and I have to admit, it's much better second time around. It's almost like he's let go of all the tension and fear now he's won. After his performance Leon bursts into tears and says, "I persued this because I loved singing and I wanted to change my mum's life... Now I have!"

Well done Leon! Just don't let that music biz eat you alive. They decide whether you're a Michelle McManus, a Steve Brookstein, a Shane Ward or a Leona Lewis. What do you think MSN blog fans? Which way is this going to go? Look into your crystal balls and make your predictions...

Dare I say, I think we'll be hearing more of Rhydian!
Leon is a lovely guy with a great voice and personality, but watch the show again tomorrow guys - he had a lot of bum notes! As the winner, he better polish his act and work on his nerves or he won't last five minutes - Maybe less! His saving grace is how much he's improved from the start of the show... Just cross your fingers that he keeps improving.

Countdown To The Final

WARNING SPOILER ALERT!

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock...

Just one day left until the final.
Is it just me or is this going to be a close one?

Personally, I can't wait for Saturday night and although I think Same Difference are the most likely to win, I'm still not convinced that it's a done deal.

For one thing the 'duets with the stars' will be a huge vote grabber and each performance will depend on how the contestants handle the pressure! Could you bop your socks off and hold a tune opposite Kylie?

Then you have the song choices... If you ask me, they all seem pretty good and from what I hear the duets are crackers too! (But more of that later...)

So what do the contestants have to do to win?

Well... Leon has to keep his nerve and be consistent. A few weeks ago Leon seemed to have overcome the 'bunny in the headlights' thing and calmed down, but last week the panic stricken face returned and he looked awkward. He can't afford to do that in the final, he has to be consistent through EVERY performance. Oh yeah and can we stop with the Michael Buble comparisons. He is not, nor will he EVER be Michael Buble. It's getting on my wick...

With Leon it's not so much about the vocal and all about the delivery! If he can hold his nerve, present us with the beautiful vocals he has before and belt out a classic with Kylie, he could stand a chance.

With Same Difference it's just the opposite. They have no problem with performance (that's for sure), but sometimes the extravagant sets and complicated choreography (and props) can throw them off key. It's a bit OTT and you know that their final performances are going to be something special. I just hope they don't let the gimmicks take over the song.

I think their performance with Jason will be sensational. I'm guessing that there'll be a lot of swaying and a children's choir... Can you guess what the song is yet? These guys have the best attitude and it's genius to match them up with Jason. After all, he's had such a turnaround in his life and is super-smiley himself at the moment. Come on, who are we trying to kid - If all goes well they could walk it!

Now on to Rhydian... This is a tough one! Rhydian can perform his heart out and sings like a pro, there is nothing I can suggest to help him improve. My only hope is that Dannii has learned her lesson and avoids camping him up. If he steers clear of gimmicks and JUST SINGS THE SONG, there's no reason why he shouldn't win. Sadly, perfection may be his downfall. Everyone knows that he'll do well regardless and I'm not sure if they'll vote. For pure unadulterated talent he should win, but I don't think he will.

The Final!

So here's how the final's going to shape up...

In the main show, on air at 7.15pm, each of the three acts will be singing three songs, one Christmas number and their favourite song as well as performing a duet with their guest acts.

In the Results Show, on air at 9.35pm, Kylie will be performing her new single Wow and we will then close the vote lines and the 3rd place act will be announced. The final two acts will then sing their version of the Winners Single, "When You Believe" after which the phone lines will close for good and this year's X Factor winner will be announced!

Woohoo!

The X Factor final is destined to have a regal twist, when princess of pop Kylie Minogue leaps onstage. It has just been confirmed that Kylie will be performing on Saturday and she will also take part in a duet with Leon! But don't panic guys... Rhydian and Same Difference will also have a celebrity friend to play with. Rhydian will be singing with Welsh Opera Starlet Katherine Jenkins and Same Difference have none other than Jason Donovan.

Personally, I just wanna see Kylie and Jason reunite and sing Especially For You. When I saw that Jason was guest starring on her mini-show I thought they might go for it then, but it wasn't to be. They are the Australian Ross and Rachel aren't they? When will those two get together?

Pause For Thought...

So I'm guessing from the 600+ comments
that Niki's leaving was a shock???

But personally, I think the biggest twist is still to come...

Who will take home the crown?

My problem with the X Factor is that it's a popularity contest and not always a talent show (as everyone would like to think).

If I had to be honest, I'd say that Same Difference could win because of the amount of support they have (across the board) and that they appeal to children. I mean the fact that they aren't the best singers is irrelevant, it's all about that special something. They're uplifting and they make people smile. In this day and age (when misery is everywhere) that's hard to find.

The news this week has concentrated on how teenagers are losing their innocence and how magazines and the media force children to grow up too quickly, so how about two decent young role models? We don't have a Steps or S-Club 7 anymore and the whole High School Musical thing is massive, will Same Difference step up to the plate? I think so. Add that to the fact that Simon can make a whole ton of cash from TV mini-shows, presenting, advertising, films and album sales and you've got a winner right there! Cha-ching! No wonder he loves them...

Everyone keeps saying that Leon is like Michael Buble (I disagree) but even if he was, would he have the ability to rake in the readies like Same Difference could. It seems it's not just about album sales this year. It's about a franchise!
If the UK public wanted 'someone' like Michael, then surely Michael Buble himself would be all over the charts?

Rhydian is a whole different story. This guy is class in a glass and everyone knows it. The issue with Rhydian is he's heading for the West End and there's no stopping him - Who would want to!! He'll be a star regardless and should be on the next plane to Broadway if you ask me. It would be great for him to have that winning moment, but I think he could lose out because people know he'll do well.

So there's my two penneths...

It's semi-final time...
Who will make the final?

Here we go!

Niki kicks things off with Louis' choice, Songbird. She's pulled a blinder tonight, I can't fault her performance and the vocal was pure. I loved it. It was delicate, in key and had umph in all the right places. Sadly the judges didn't agree (I have no idea what the hell they were listening to!) Sharon said the song choice was more like "poetry to music" and something with more punch was needed for this stage of the competition. Simon said it was dreary and she was fortunate she had another song! I couldn't believe the comments. Thank God for Dannii, at least she had something good to say. "I thought the song was great and your vocal was beautiful". Spot on Ms Minogue - Well said!

Leon is up next and he's performing The Very Thought Of You.
I know the song, but I'm concerned that the majority won't know it. He is SO nervous and the start is off key and shaky. Thankfully he pulls it back by the end and as always I find myself willing him to do well. Louis is more than impressed. "I think we have a UK Michael Buble right here! You are going to have a great career". Sharon loved it too, "you're so smooth, as smooth as that velvet suit you're wearing. You've come so far and it's been a pleasure to see!" Unfortunately Simon wasn't in a forgiving mood... "It was one of your weakest performances for a while. The start was out of tune, the middle (with the girl) was weird and the end was good". Dannii stepped in quickly to silence Simon, "it's the semi-final and I know you're nervous. Maybe the song wasn't the best choice in this situation and I feel partly responsible as some of it was out of tune. Everyone at home knows you are gonna come out and give a fantastic second performance". Fingers crossed Leon...

WOW! What can I say? Rhydian has just sang Bridge Over Troubled Water and I am in awe. This guy can blow and the emotion that poured from his eyes was credit to him, especially after Sharon questioned his 'heart' last week. The performance was nothing short of amazing. Louis said, "every week you come out and every week you deliver. You are gonna make the final and you're probably gonna win it". Sharon was gushing, "it was SO unbelievably perfect. It was nice to see something that wasn't operatic, not that there's anything wrong with operatics but we saw a different side to you". Simon said, “I think that was bloody fantastic and it was the best performance of the competition so far". You can't beat those comments!

D'ya know what? I just LOVE Same Difference! I can't help it. They appear on stage and I beam from ear to ear, THEN as soon as I saw the circus that was it! I cracked up - Did you see the strong man with 'Same Difference' on his back? LOVE IT!
Chain Reaction was a fun song to sing, but I think that Simon could have picked better. This was a solo track and it wasn't written for two, so no cigar for you tonight big guy!
What a shocker, Louis still doesn’t get it. "The circus was in town, but Simon you're the biggest clown if you think people are gonna buy this. Are you serious?" Sharon replies "he's as serious as a heart attack. I think the performance was wonderful, but the song didn’t show off you voice to your full ability and we know you can do so much more". Simon was infuriated that Louis still doesn't understand these guys. "You are not the best singers in this competition and we have all accepted that from the start, but you have took everything that has been thrown at you and you always want to put on a show - You give it your all! ...and as for you Louis, you just want to shatter their dreams. There are a lot of kids out there who would love that!"

Kids? I loved it Simon and I’m ruddy thirty! (Well thirty two now, but keep that under your hat).

Second songs...

Niki - One Moment In Time
What a belter! Niki really pulled it back this time around. The judges can't fault this one surely, she was flawless. Louis says that this is what the show is all about and Simon finally gave her props. "It was a bit shouty in the middle, but I'm picking... That was much more like it Nik, it was a great performance". Niki is overjoyed that Simon has finally offered up some credit. Good for you missus!

Leon – How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You
I'm sorry but I really don't like it. I think Leon looks static when he dances and the faster numbers seem to knock him off key. It's like he loses his concentration and it throws the performance out of sync. It's weird because Louis disagreed and thought it was a great performance. Sharon wasn't on board either, she commended Leon's confidence and how he takes risks with his song choices each week. Did anyone agree with me? Praise be to Simon Cowell! "You're gonna hate me, you really are. I didn’t like the arrangement at all. It was jazzy and a bit indulgent, you are a very good singer Leon but you have to perform to the people at home". I agree with Simon, it was a little indulgent". Michael Buble invited Leon to join him on stage at Wembley this week. He said that Leon is a star and they both performed Home together. I hope that hasn't gone to his head. What do you think?

Rhydian - You'll Never Walk Alone
Dannii is in tears and I'm not surprised. I have to be honest, the final line of this song threw me over the edge. This song is very important to me and I know it has great meaning to many, it is a song that demands respect and I would have been furious if he'd have ruined it. I'm so chuffed that Rhydian did us proud. He held his nerve and as he belted out THAT final note, I was sold. If you want an example of how great it was, even his nemesis Sharon gave a standing ovation. Louis said, "you WILL be in the final" and Sharon thought there would be one proud mum in the audience tonight. Simon couldn't contain himself, "that was an absolutely stunning performance. If we could choose someone to go through to the final for the best performances tonight it would be you".

Same difference – Never Had a Dream Come True
This is a much better song choice! Although it’s a little sickly-sweet for me, it works and shows off their range. It’s a real tear jerker too, Sarah used to listen to this song when she was bullied and she breaks down at the end. Sharon and Dannii stand to applaud her (bless em). Sharon loved it and said it was fantastic to hear Sarah sing properly without jumping around. Dannii thought it was great, "I preferred this performance to the original" and Simon thought it was their best performance. I'm not kidding, these guys could be the dark horse in this competition.

I don't want to throw a spanner in the works but I think Niki or Leon could go tonight.

Leon hugs her and bursts into tears. He can't believe she's out and neither can Louis. "I would've loved her to get to the final, but Michael Buble loved her, Celine Dion loved her and I love her". Niki thanks the public for their support and Louis for all of his help. She tells Dermot that her favourite moment was when Louis put her through to the live shows.

This week the contestants are singing two songs and the theme is 'Judges and Contestants Choices'. Joining them on stage this week is Canadian crooner Michael Buble.

Tensions are rife in the house as the final looms, one act must leave this week with only three places up for grabs in the grand final, and for Rhydian coming 3rd of 4th is just not good enough!

Rhydian Roberts singing Bridge Over Troubled Water and You’ll Never Walk Alone

Rhydian’s never been shy about his competitive edge but this week it’s come out in full force, “Coming 3rd of 4th is not good enough, I want to be in that final two and I really don’t want to be beaten by Leon”. And the “Riddler” is throwing himself whole heartedly into pulling out the best performance he can, and he is convinced that his rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone will be enough to secure him a place in the final three, “I have performed in Carousel, so this song means so much to me and I know I can make it my own”.

All the acts have been filming their potential winning single video at Pinewood this week and for Rhydian it was like a dream come true as he could show off his acting as well as singing ability.

Niki Evans singing Songbird and One Moment In Time

Niki is conscious that no woman has reached the final three, so she is determined to prove that your average Mum and dinnerlady does have what it takes to go all the way in this competition, and Louis Walsh, who is probably more competitive than all the acts put together, is certainly hoping she make it through this weekend so he has a chance of beating Simon Cowell this year!

Determined not to let her two sons down, who she says would be more upset than her if she didn’t make it through to the finals, Niki has been practising hard and taking all the advice she can from Louis, the vocal coaches and Brian Friedman, “this is my last chance so I am determined to take any advice that I can, I want to prove to Simon that I am more than a cabaret singer and that I do have a chance of winning this competition”.

After meeting Duran Duran at last Saturdays show, Niki was invited on Monday night to attend their gig and ended up walking the red carpet with the band, and Roger Taylor has even invited Niki and her family over for dinner during the Christmas holiday’s, which to a Duran Duran fan like Niki is a dream come true!

Leon Jackson singing The Very Thought Of You and How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You

This week all the contestants got to meet Michael Buble who held a masterclass for them on stage at Wembley. Michael was so taken by Leon that he invited him that night to join him live on stage to sing “Home” with him. Mentor Dannii was there to see Leon, who got a standing ovation from the Wembley crowd, singing alongside his musical hero. An emotional Dannii said she was “so incredibly proud of him, it was like a dream come true for him and I was welling with pride, it felt like I was watching my own child up there!”.

If the contestants get through to the final they will all be heading home on Monday for a homecoming thank you performance, and no one is more excited than Leon, “to be able to go back to Scotland and thank all the fans back home for voting will be an amazing honour, and to have my Mum there will bethe icing on the cake because she is the reason why I am doing this”.

Same Difference singing Never Had a Dream Come True and Chain Reaction

This excitable duo are so amazed that they have reached this stage of the show they feel like they have to “pinch themselves every morning!” The pair are a delight for everyone to work with as they are “like sponges who just soak all advice up”, says vocal coach Yvie Burnett, and for Brian they are a, “dream to work with and so unbelievably professional, they pick up dance routines quicker than most stars I have worked with, and as these two have really complicated routines each week, that is saying something”.

They may have a foe in Louis Walsh but the pair have certainly found friends in their fans and more fan mail comes through for these two than any other act! And on The Xtra Factor this week Sarah goes on a mission to find Sean a date, and she’s very particular in what she’s looking for! After going through the hundreds of applications, 19 year old student Emily from Greenwich seemed to have what Sarah was looking for so arranged for the two to go on a secret date ten pin bowling, after buying her a rose and swapping phone numbers it certainly looks like Sarah has picked well, girls you’ll have to watch this space to see if Sean becomes a taken man!

So Hope have gone...

But what did the judges think?

Simon said, “I was disappointed for the girls. I got to like these girls a lot, they work hard, they don’t whinge or moan. It was a tough week because the other four performances were so good.”

Sharon was optimistic about Hope’s future. “The girls have been in the bottom three a few times so thought it might be their last week. Tough competition, see them on the tour, am sure they’ll get signed.”

Louis was glad to see the back of the girls but also had a positive word to say. “I’m glad they’re gone but I would like to see them stay together as a girl group. I do think they can make it.”

Simon mused on why the girls had gone. “They were competing with four other acts who did really well tonight. The semi-final is the worse show to leave on, worse than losing out on the final. So treat it like a final.

Pheobe's going nowhere!

This morning Hope confirmed that they are going all out to 'be a band' and make a future for themselves. Contrary to current rumours, lead vocalist Pheobe denied stepping out on her own. "I'm not going solo, it's rubbish. I couldn't leave these girls. We're like best friends!"

As Pheobe confirmed that Hope were sticking together, Emily squashed any rumours about her relationship with Leon. "He's lovely, but we're just good friends that's all". You heard it here first ladies - he's single!

The winners song confirmed...

As well as the million pound recording contract the winner will also release a single in time to compete for the prestigious Christmas No1. This year renowned lyricist and composer Stephen Schwatz has re written his Mariah Carey hit, “When You Believe” especially for The X Factor winner.

Well tonight it's all change!

The judges no longer have a say and it all rests on the public vote. Who will make it to the final four and the semi-final?

Rhydian is up first and this week he was overwhelmed to be on the red carpet with Nicole Kidman. "I've had a taste of what this could be like and I love it!" He's singing Somebody To Love by Queen and although the vocal is fantastic as always, it's a little gimmick ridden again. Rhydian stands tall on a piano and he's surrounded by backing singers in shades. Thankfully his voice draws my attention (as I'm sure it does with everyone) and the singers aren't a problem anymore. I have to give credit to Brian Freidman though, as the choreography was sharp on this performance.

The good thing is that the judges don't seem to mind the odd gimmick this week (I mean it was nothing like Go West!). Louis says that Rhydian has to be in the final and Sharon is convinced that Freddie Mercury would have loved it! Simon commends Rhydian for proving that he can hack it in the real world with a pop performance. Talk about compliments aplenty!!

It's time for Hope now and these girls have been through the mill. I just 'hope' they've listened to the public and sing a song they can all have a go at. Pheobe cannot carry this band forever. The sing Two Become One by The Spice Girls and I have to say, it's still not working. They look like they're dressed in sacks and the solo parts are shaky. It's off key and although the harmonies are good, that's about all. It's a shame as I really wanted them to do well. Dannii said that she can tell they are fighting and the initial excitement has gone. Simon said, "it just wasn't good enough. Someone has to go tonight and the public (and I) will be looking for a stunning performance (second time around)". It's never good when your own mentor knocks you down.

This should be a stunning performance by NIki. I've been looking forward to hearing her sing Total Eclipse Of The Heart and I'm not disappointed. Her vocal is on point and I'm just in awe of how fantastic her voice really is.

I do have to agree with Simon though, I don't think Louis has put enough effort into her image. Outside of the competition she does need a little more umph. Simon said, "if she was with me, I would have sorted that out".

Sharon and Dannii agree that Niki is much improved from her performace last week and Dannii is happy that her tuning wasn't out like last week. Simon takes full credit, "this improvement is down to my honest critique over the past few weeks". Whatever Simon! Louis laughs it off and takes it in his stride... How can Dannii talk about singing out of tune? Ouch - Go on Louis, fight back for once!

Next it's Leon and I'm a little worried about him tonight. Rhydian and Niki are so strong and he could end up in the final two with Hope. I hope he blows us away like last week. He could give one of the top two a run for their money!

I'm disappointed... Leon pulls of a great vocal like last week, but it's predictable. He sings Crazy Little thing Called Love and it's a swing version. Please don't turn this guy into a one trick pony. I wish that Leon could pull in the punters with his personality when he's on stage. He has no problem doing it off stage. I hate to say it's boring but it is! I'm hoping his next song has a bit more umph. Thankfully, the judges concentrate on the vocals and they praise Leon for his constant improvement. Simon tries to claim credit again, "I always had faith in you Leon. I just never said". What a crock!

Do you know what, I can't help but love Same Difference! I can't! They sing Any Dream Will Do and I'm sold. Once again they proved their vocal ability (the harmonies and solos can't be faulted) and it's SO cheesy that it's GREAT. They're swaying, they have a children's choir and candles, you name it - every gimmick you could throw at this song was there. But I have to say, I really don't care. I love it! You know when you drink so much that you drink yourself sober, they're like that. There is so much cheese that you stop noticing it and just see these happy smiling faces. Is it shameful that I like them? Louis thinks it is. With all of the horror in the world it makes a nice change to smile and Sharon agrees. "You have a fanbase that loves you. Children adore you and you are fantastic".

Is it a good sign when Simon says "this will be better" as he introduces Hope's second performance? I'm not convinced. They sing We Will Rock You and it IS better than their last perfomance but no way near a showstopper. The song didn't call for much effort and they repeat one line throughout. I would say average. The judges agree that there is some improvement, but Louis says that Freddie would be spinning in his grave. Charming!

For his second song Leon sings The Long And Winding Road and he nails it. I agree with Simon that the beginning was shaky (I thought he was gonna blow it), but the last third was amazing! Sharon tells Leon that he has something Rhydian doesnt. "You have heart in your eyes and that heart shows. You're likeable!" Simon siply says he'll see him in the semi-final. (Leon is such a love, I hope he stays)

Same Difference perform Wake Me Up Before You Go Go and I can't help laughing when they hop out of bed! You gottit, an alarm rings and they hope out of their bunks and dance with little friends in pyjamas. Super Cheesy? YES. Exactly what you would have expected them to do? YES. Are they going home tonight? I don't think so! Sharon said it all, "all we need now are puppies and bubbles and we have the whole thing, I love it! What the hell, I love you guys. You're cheesy, but fantastic!" Dannii said they could release this track as a single and fly with it!

Niki's second song is Fields Of Gold and she better do it justice.
This is one of my favourite songs of all time.
NO NO NO - Stop with the Mariah's! Why do singers do this up and down, up and down rubbish? Just sing the melody!!! I can't fault her vocal ability, but I didn't like the performance. Nadine from Girls Aloud performed this song and Louis should have called on her to give Niki some emotional pointers. Nadine just poured herself into the camera and it was so moving, I still remember it to this day - That was what I was hoping for.

Rhydian performs World In Union and like Simon, I have one word to say... Outstanding! My heart went out to him singing an anthem such as this. He was under huge pressure and for once, you could see that he was nervous. "I was nervous as this was the best of British week and I know I'm welsh but I am SO proud to be British". Good for you Ridders!

I knew it!
Let's be honest, we saw this one coming. Simon needed to be able to utilise all of their voices to create the super-group he hoped for. Sadly, some of them just weren't up to the challenge. I think it's a good bet that Pheobe will pull in a contract though.

Fancy a peek behind the scenes?

Leon singing The Long and Winding Road and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Leon is over the moon having got through last Saturday’s show and getting the comments from Simon that he’s been craving since day one. He really can't believe he's in the final five and feels like he's living a dream at the moment. His Mum is so proud of him and is hoping that all of Scotland will get behind him and Leon’s hoping that both him and Rhydian make it through to the final, not only for Dannii but so they can have a Wales v’s Scotland battle!

Leon and Emily’s relationship also seems to be blossoming with the two enjoy a few romantic meals for two this week... watch this space!

Rhydian Roberts singing Somebody to Love and I Vow To Thee My Country/World In Union.

Rhydian was really pleased with his performance last week, he felt he had a lot to prove after his infamous 'Go West' performance. Taking the competition as seriously as ever, Rhydian never loses sight of his ultimate goal, after getting up early and running 10 miles, he spends all day at rehearsal only to come home and practise all night, followed by some more weight training – this man is dedicated!

Leon’s hoping that some of Rhydian’s tips will work for him, as he’s changed his meal habits to Rhydian’s daily diet of Jacket Potato, tuna and peas, with a smidge of ketchup on the side!

Now the numbers in the house have dwindled Rhydian is visibly more relaxed in the house and spends a lot of time giving advice to Same Difference, who he’s grown really close too.

This week the contestants went to the premiere of The Golden Compass, and a rather embarrassed Rhydian shared the red carpet with Nicole Kidman!!

Same Difference singing Any Dream Will Do and Wake Me up Before You Go Go.

Excited as ever to be in the final five! They loved last Saturday and are really proud of their performance, especially as Simon said he could see that making a chart hit. Although they missed the dancers, having their act stripped of gimmicks meant they could prove to everyone that they could sing. This week with two songs we’ll get to see a bit of both, so as always the two are really excited about this Saturday.

There does however seem to be some sibling tensions between them which we’ve not seen until this late stage of the competition, with Sean nagging Sarah to tidy her room and saying the clutter will clutter her mind! Sarah replied, “my minds not cluttered and why should I tidy it, it’s my room! And if I didn’t spend all my time cooking, cleaning and washing for you, I would have time too!” he replied, “You think you know it all but you don’t!” And on the way back on Sunday Sean had another dig at Sarah because she was going out for dinner that evening when they had a big day ahead (recording the winner’s single) and that she couldn’t get her harmonies right! Is the pressure of being in the final five taking its toll on our brother and sister duo?

Sarah's mission to find Sean a woman continues, she was hoping she could persuade Nicole Kidman to go on a date with him, but it didn’t work out! Sarah was less than impressed when the pair bumped into an old flame of Sean’s at the dance studio. She never thought the girl was good enough for Sean so quickly led her brother away! I'm a little worried about these two?

Hope singing We Will Rock You and 2 Become 1

Hope had prepared themselves to go home last Saturday night and they looked as shocked as Simon last week when the vote went to deadlock and they won. They’d had a tough week with last minute song changes and with all the attention being on Phoebe. This week the vocals are more evenly distributed and gives each of them a chance to show to the public what they can do. The fact that they’ve all been given their own solos has encouraged a change in attitude when it comes to practising – although perhaps this is not because they want the best for the group, but because each star wants to shine…? Either way it has been much more harmonious in the house this week, which is a huge relief to the other four acts!

That was until the girls has to get ready for the premiere, it was bedlam on the girls floor in the house, with make up and clothes everywhere and Charlie crying because someone had poured something on her hair extensions turning them green!! And on the red carpet the girls were determined to be noticed and walked down it singing Back to Black, fortunately Raquelle restrained herself and the paps were not treated to a splits routine! They also almost got thrown out of the premier after being caught by security using their mobile phones in the cinema!

Niki Evans singing Total Eclipse of The Heart and Fields of Gold

Niki was gutted to see her friend Beverley leave last week. The two met on the first day of Bootcamp and have been inseparable ever since, so living in the house this week without Bev has been pretty hard for Niki, but with the final only two weeks away she determined to prove that the competition isn’t just about the younger contestants and she’s adamant that her and Louis will be stood together on the final show.

Niki is singing Fields of Gold this a song really close to Niki’s heart, not only was it the song she sang at her first audition but it was also the first song she heard after her Dad passed away. The song therefore holds a lot of emotion for Niki and after almost breaking down on stage last week she is hoping she can keep it together this week.

Niki is also over the moon that Duran Duran are performing as she is a HUGE fan. She actually met Simon Le Bon a few weeks ago at the rehearsal studio and was on cloud 9 for the rest of the day, so the thought of performing on the same stage as a band who she grew up listening too and who inspired her musically means a great deal to her.

What's In A Name?

What a classic, rumour has it that Louis Walsh's mum was in the X-Factor audience on Saturday and she slipped up bigtime! Allegedly, she told a member of the warm-up team that Louis wasn't really called Louis and his name was Michael Vincent. A titbit that not even Simon Cowell had discovered.

I'm betting that Simon found the whole thing hilarious. Especially if Louis turned a beautiful shade of red.

If I was going to change my name, I'd be with Homer Simpson on this one and pick Max Power or something. Louis Walsh isn't the first name that springs to mind is it? This name changing business requires a lot of thought though, maybe... Producee McWestzone... Bigbucks Funnyman... or Wrongy McSongy

Oh I don't know, what name would you have picked if you were Louis?

Why the public vote?

Sharon explained her reason to let the vote go to a deadlock last night, “It took a lot of thinking tonight. Both acts are so different and both talented in their own ways. Hope represents the youth and Beverley, I think, is like the next Jennifer Hudson. So I could not call it so it was like, let the public decide.”

Next weeks show...

Next week the final five get double the chance to impress the Judges as they have two songs each and the theme is “Best of British”. The contestants will be joined on stage by the iconic Duran Duran.

Hope they'll choose wisely...

So with double the chances to impress, no act is feeling the pressure more than Hope. With Phoebe taking the lead vocals on Saturday, I'm guessing the girls will want to choose songs that show off all of their voices this week.

With regard to their diva-esque attitude, Simon is determined to calm the girls down. He's insisting that they listen to all the professional advice they are given and take it on board, especially with regards to styling. Last week the girls decided they were going to take control of their look, but after Simon was unhappy with what they were proposing, the shows stylist was called in to the rescue.

Live Blog - Love Week

Ready for a LIVE one?

It's Love week people, can you feel the love?

Beverley is up first and it's nice to see her gaining confidence. All of the contestants got to go home this week and I can only guess that the trip to see her family and school has worked wonders! She blasts out a good old fashioned power ballad (Without You By Nilson) and the judges are in awe. Sharon said it was magnificent and Dannii couldn't believe the change from dress rehearsal to stage performance. "I don't know what you ate in the canteen between then and now, but it worked. That was a totally different performance. It was great!" Beverley gushed, "I love my husband so much and I just saw his face. I love this song." How sweet is this lady? Did you see her with her family, they were just too cute! Simon's just a big softy really you know. After hearing her comments about her husband, he told her that she was a wonderful person and it would be a travesty if she didn't make it through to next week. The final five is such a big deal! I hate to say it, but I didn't like it that much. I don't know if it was the strange key or the arrangement, but it just sounded a little off?

Simon dedicates the next performance to 'grumpy' Louis Walsh. You guessed it people it's Same Difference. They sing Nothing's Gonna Stop Us by Starship and you know what, I don't think anything will! They look far more current this week and they sing a solo each that is more than impressive, some of the top notes are sensational!Louis gives it to these two every week and even he has to eat humble pie. "It was your best performance". Sadly he can't leave it at that and he adds that it would be a travesty if they won. Sharon, Dannii and Simon all disagree and they thought it was fantastic. Sharon thanked Simon for letting them grow up this week and look more their age. Danni was impressed that they got to show off thier vocal ability with a challenging song.

Simon doesn't like Niki and I can't help but wonder why? He says it's because she was more interested in pinching the dancer's bums last week, than giving a good performance. Personally, I've been looking forward to Niki singing Power Of Love as it's rumoured she's starting the song without music (which will be chilling). It's also her Dad's favourite song (so it should be filled with emotion). She opens her mouth and the show stops. I mean it, it stops. This could be the performance of the series, she's brilliant! Sharon thinks she's unbelievable and she deserves to be here to the end and Simon said it was 100 times better than last week. "Good for you Niki!"

Thank God that Dannii's got the message! The old Rhydian is back and I'm loving it. He performs Somewhere like a pro and I have to admit I'm swept away by the rolling mist and truly sensational vocals. As he sings the final note, Rhydian has the biggest smile and is genuinely pleased as punch. Louis has to hold his hands up, "you are head and shoulders above the rest". Simon says that this show is about finding a star, "I thought that the vocal was perfect and after that performance you would be a more than worthy winner!" Dannii is in tears and can barely speak, "I felt like you were singing that personally to me" and Sharon thanks Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber for passing on Rhydian for the BBC show Joseph. "I'm so glad the Lloyd Lloyd Webber or whatever his name is let you go, so we can have you".

Rhydian is obviously touched, especially by Dannii's tearful reaction and heartfelt comments. Louis might as well have said tht Rhydian beats all his acts hands down and Simon would love him to win too! I have to agree, that was a show stopping performance. Dannii HAS to stick to the gimmickless Rhydian. Oh yeah, and special thanks to the stylist for getting rid of that stupid square white haircut - Great move!

Hope are getting worse. Now Pheobe's singing the WHOLE vocal and the others are humming and 'oooing' along. It's beyond a joke! That, added to the fact that they sang a Christina Aguilera song that's virtually unknown and it can only result in disaster. Louis said they look like a girl band, but that's not all that's needed. He agrees with me about the 'ooing' and the terrible song choice. Dannii's just sorry that they missed out on Pheobe as a solo artist and tells the world to look out for her, how encouraging for the others eh?

I'm impressed with Leon tonight. His song choice was brilliant and he kept his nerves in check. He chose the Ray Charles version of You Don't Know Me and the arrangement was made for his voice. Simon said, "I've always wondered why you were on this show... until now!" The crowd explode and Simon continues, "by any standard that was an unbelievable performance. This is what you do well and this is what you're good at". I get the feeling that Leon's been trying to impress Simon from the start. He fills up and finds it difficult to speak. Sharon and Louis loved his performance and Dannii's embarrassed, she's in tears again!

Hope and Beverley are in the final two...

Let's watch the sing-off performances...

From the sing-off Beverley should stay. She has so much more umph and she really wants it. It doesn't matter how well Hope performed their song, it was still JUST Pheobe singing. She's great, but one voice doesn't make a group. Pheobe could have a chance at winning this (if she was on her own). She's like a UK Kelly Clarkson and we're missing a lil' rock chic over here!

The judges vote and it's a DEADLOCK. That means it's two all and it goes to the public vote. Sharon had the final vote and she chose to force a deadlock, was it the cowards way out? I thought Sharon was going to speak her mind after losing her acts?

Leaving the show is Beverley! I can't believe it. I don't think the public were watching the same show as me!
